Diego Rivera

While on my winter break this last year I went to Mexico. I had the opportunit to go inside the National Palace in Mexico City. I had a chance to see alot of great art work but one in piticular artist that is known world wide, i got to see his art first hand. Diego Rivera. His love for art slowly developed at the  age of ten . The his family moved from Guanajuato, where he was born to Mexico City. That is when his love for art really started. He was granted a scholarship to attend San Carlos' Fine Arts Academy. Years after being expelled from there in 1902 due to his action in the students protest he had his very first exposition. This exposition earned his a Veracruz's government scholarship and he continued his studies in Spain. Throughout the years he travel all over Europe picking up and various different methods of art from post-impressionism to cubisum.

He then in turn created his own original art work. In 1910 he exhibited forty of his pieces in Mexico and got a great reaction from the public even though his technique was not yet fully developed. The one piece that caught my eye was a wall to wall, floor to ceiling mural. It is a master piece. In this mural he depicted the history of Mexico. His paintings have a very bright and vibrant color to them. This mural is layed out very well and transitions very well from one pint in history to the next. I love how he shows emotion in his painting, just by looking at the you can tell how the individual feel.
